Don’t feed the plants

We love the opportunities our trust creates to bring pupils from our schools together. It was especially welcome, after a long pandemic, when Ryburn Valley High School invited year 6 pupils from our primary schools to come and watch their first performance of Little Shop of Horrors in March.

This was the first time many of the children had been to the ‘theatre’ and it was a very exciting experience for them. It offered not only entertainment but an accessible and inspiring introduction to theatre and performance. The talent, hard work and creativity of Ryburn students was clear to see, with the cast and ensemble, a live band of sixth formers and student leaders front of house all acting as fantastic role models.

The younger pupils provided a supportive and appreciative audience for the nervous students’ first show and gave the cast some great feedback:

“We loved how the plant stayed in character even during the break!”

“We really enjoyed the acting from everyone, especially Mr Mushnik, Audrey, Seymour, Audrey 2 and the dentist.”

“We thought you had put a lot of effort into the clothes and props.”

“It was very funny.”

“The singing was amazing!”
